Martinez
(the original martini)
2 oz. gin (Old Tom gin is preferred)
3 oz. dry vermouth
3-4 drops maraschino liqueur
3-4 drops Angostura bitters
Fill mixing glass with ice.
Add gin, vermouth, maraschino liqueur and bitters.
Shake.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with a lemon slice.
Martini (classic)
1 ½ oz. gin
dash dry vermouth
Fill mixing glass with ice.
Add gin and vermouth.
Stir,
Strain into a cocktail glass.
Garnish with an olive.
Martini (dry)
1 ½ oz. gin
drop of dry vermouth
Fill mixing glass with ice.
Add gin and vermouth.
Stir.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with an olive
NOTE: The dryer the martini – the
less vermouth is used. An extremely dry martini is basically
a shot of gin served “straight up.”
Gibson (the same
as a Martini except for the onion garnish)
1½ oz. gin
½ oz. dry vermouth
Fill mixing glass with ice.
Add gin and vermouth.
Stir.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with a pearl onion.
Vodka Martini
1½ oz. vodka
dash dry vermouth
Fill mixing glass with ice.
Add vodka and vermouth
Stir
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with an olive.
NOTE: The rules for dryness apply for
vodka martinis as well.
Apple Martini
1 oz. vodka
1 oz. apple pucker (or any sour apple liqueur)
Fill mixing glass with ice.
Add vodka and sour apple liqueur.
Shake.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
